If you’re starting to plan your wedding flowers and feeling a little overwhelmed by the pricing, you’re not alone. Wedding floral pricing can be confusing at first glance, especially since it doesn’t always follow the same structure as other wedding vendors. Understanding how florists price their work can help you feel more confident and prepared as you start designing the look and feel of your day.
First and foremost, wedding flowers are priced not just for the blooms themselves but for the time, labor, and creative design that go into them. You’re not only paying for the roses in your bouquet, but for the hours spent sourcing the best ones, conditioning each stem, designing your arrangements, transporting them safely, and setting everything up with care. A florist’s pricing includes all of this behind-the-scenes effort.
Most florists build their proposals based on a combination of your vision, the types of flowers you love, the size of your wedding, and the complexity of your designs. Some couples want full lush installations that transform their ceremony space. Others are looking for thoughtful touches like bud vases or greenery for the tables. Pricing reflects both the scale and the specific floral ingredients involved. For example, peonies, orchids, and garden roses tend to be more expensive due to seasonality and sourcing, while locally grown or in-season flowers may be more budget-friendly.
It’s also helpful to understand that many florists set a minimum investment for weddings. This is usually based on the time and staffing required to execute a wedding day, even a small one. The minimum allows your florist to cover costs like design hours, delivery, setup, breakdown, and staffing.
The cost of running a floral business goes far beyond just the flowers themselves. It includes everything from studio rent and utilities to insurance, business licenses, vehicle rental, supplies, education, software subscriptions, etc. Florists also invest in high-quality tools, vases, vessels, and floral mechanics to ensure your arrangements are both beautiful and structurally sound. Labor is a major factor too—this includes design time, consultations, ordering, processing flowers, delivery, on-site setup, and breakdown after your event. Behind every bouquet is a team, a workspace, and countless hours of thoughtful planning and care that make your wedding flowers truly special.
If you’re trying to stay within a specific budget, talk to your florist about your priorities. Maybe you care most about the bridal bouquet and the ceremony arch and are open to simpler centerpieces. Or maybe you want flowers everywhere but are open to letting the designer choose seasonal blooms to keep costs manageable. Clear communication and trust go a long way, and many florists are happy to guide you toward a design that feels beautiful and intentional at a price point that works for you.
We price our florals using either a formula or a flat rate. For example, most of our arrangements are priced using the formula of cost of goods x 3 with an additional 18% - 20% of labor. We also charge for delivery, set up, strike, flip, and travel based on the client’s specific timeline and venue. An example of a flat rate item we offer are our bud vases which are priced at $35 each.
Because most arrangements are based on a formula, it is difficult to estimate prices when clients ask before having a consultation. Every client has a different vision of what they dream of for their wedding florals and every price will be different as well.

The advice on fragrance is so helpful. I used lavender and rosemary in a Wrist Corsage Elastic for a summer wedding and the scent was amazing all evening. We matched it with a herb-accented boutonniere from this corsage & boutonniere collection for a naturally aromatic touch.
