A Year in Bloom: My Favorite Flowers in Every Season

As a florist, the rhythm of the seasons shapes everything I create. Each time of year brings its own palette of colors, textures, ans scents that inspire new designs and moods. Some flowers feel like old friends returning each spring or fall, while others surprise me with their fleeting beauty. In this post, I’m sharing a few of my favorite blooms from each season; the ones I look forward to most, that always spark creativity and remind me why I love working with nature’s ever changing canvas.

February - April: Ranunculus, Flowering Branches, Narcissus, Kumquats, Hellebore, Sweet Pea, and Anemone.

April - June: Allium, Local Roses (May - October), Anemone, Ranuculus, Hellebore, Jasmine, Sweet Pea, Peony (May - July), Mint, Lilac, Tulip, Iris, Lily of the Valley (May), Snowball Viburnum, Summer Snowflake, Mock Orange, Foxgloves, and Columbine.

June - August: Phlox, Local Roses (May - October), Fata Morgana, Delphinium, Smoke Bush, Allium, Agapanthus, Coreopsis, Didiscus, Foxgloves, Blueberry Foliage, Cosmos, Raspberry Foliage, Raspberries, Scented Geranium, Peony (May- July), Kent Beauty, Blushing Bride Protea, and Tulips.

July - September: Dahlias, Hanging Amaranthus, Cosmos, Sunflowers, Local Roses (May - October), Tomato Foliage, Peegee Hydrangeas (Early September), Marigolds, and Kent Beauty Oregano.

September - December: Amaryllis, Aster, Chrysanthemum, Hellebore, Fall Foliage, Snowberry, Privet Berry, Ilex, Kale, Poinsettia, Persimmon, Pomegranate, Hellebore, Ilex, Kale, Marigold, Peony, Pink Pepperberry, Snowberry, Porcelian Berry, Pumpkins, Squash, Gourds, Privet Berry, Local Roses (May- October), Tulip, Pumpkin Tree, Viburnum Berry and Rosehips.

December - February: Amaryllis, Kumquats, Hellebore, Ilex Berry, Kale, Tulips, Muscari, Privet Berry, and Poinsettia.
